It’s April already!
Hi~
Time flies so fast and now it’s April and we’re in the third year of pandemic. I’ve been longing at home since pandemic started and only going out for supermarket or if something important happen. Not much going on in my life … but this March, I started to watch as many movies as possible. Well, not that many and this isn’t recommendation either, I just wat to share.
So, yeah …
I watched Disney movies after a long time …
I only have Netflix until now, but I forgot I have Disney+ subscription that I got for free from my phone provider (thank you). So, I watched …
Turning Red
I watched this because of ‘controversy’ that some parents made on internet. But, in my opinion this movie is pretty good. It’s not about against or hate your parents, but it’s about accepting each other, the importance of communication between parents and kids, apologizing when doing something wrong, and find their own self. This is a good movie to watch with daughter that-soon-will-hit-puberty. It’s sweet~
Encanto
I love this one! Moral of the movie is similar to Turning Red, about accepting each other but more family oriented. The dialogue is pretty good and the soundtrack is INCREDIBLE. But I feel the movie is very fast paced and the climax is not really impactful. Overall, I really love it despite being fast paced and has kind of hanging problems.
Netflix … I usually watch some Japanese movie … but I watched some western, too. Not really into Indonesian movies, I don’t know why. Maybe, I’m going to try it someday. I haven’t found some Indonesian movies that sit right with me. The only movie that sticks in my head and I can watch it over and over again, is just the classic childhood movie, Sherina’s Adventure. I tried to watch some movies by well-known directors that people said “they make good movies”, but they’re still not into my liking. Hopefully I can find the one, though …
By the way, I don’t really like action movies, so my movies history is like drama or slice of life or … mystery and family movie. Maybe it’s because I really like slow pace show or something light. Life is already challenging, I don't really want to watch something challenging to add in my life. What a wise word.
These are what I watched recently …
Love Like the Falling Petals
This one is a new romance movie. I kind of like this movie. The beginning and how they developed their romance are good. The ending is so sad though. But, I think, they’re not developing the girl’s illness very well. I expected that they’re going to do step by step changes in her illness and making it tragically sad, but apparently not and they cover most of her ‘old’ face.
The Door into Summer
A science-fiction movie that I love. It’s from a novel that I haven’t read or found yet so I can’t compare it. I love this movie even though the tension is not very high. The villains only exist in short time. I was confused at first when watching this. I don’t know who’s the bad guy and what they want to do, but as the movie goes, it becomes clear. For my March movie month, this is my favourite. I need to find the book and read it.
Parasite in Love
Visual work about this movie is amazing. But the love development of the two characters, not really outstanding and rather flat. I don’t find any impactful scene in this movie but I do enjoyed it and will re-watch it for some scene.
The Coward Who Looked to the Sky
A 2012 movie that I find the title is a kind of interesting. I looked it up and watched it. Dark and painful story, very slow paced, and has some sexual intercourse. I don’t love it but I don’t hate it either. Just okay … not the movie that I would love to watch again. But the lead actress’s acting is really good and she's pretty.
Ride or Die
I don’t think this movie would be so explicit. To be honest I don’t really like this movie. I sometimes like dark-romance movie, despite very beautiful cinematography, I don’t really like this movie. They said this was from a manga that apparently quite well-known. Maybe I should read the manga first so I can develop my likeness in this movie.
The Tinder Swindler
I thought I watched some western movie, but apparently not. I only watched one and it’s a documentary about a swindler. I saw someone recommended it on Twitter, so I looked into it on Netflix and watched it. To be honest, I never use any dating app, so I don't have any idea why people can trust someone based on chat and photo only. But, I know what he did is very wrong and harmful, I do sympathize for the girls to have such a horrible incident and I wish the best for them. Still mad with his country authorities to just let him go like that and not make him pay for he did to the girls.
.
Well, maybe that’s it. I watched some series, too. I’ll share it someday.
Bye~
