How Is It Like To Be An Architecture Student?

I take this picture from here
Hi ...

In this post I want to talk about something. If you see the title you'll understand. Yes, I am an Arcitecture Student. No, I used to, and now I am already graduating from college.

I attended collage in 2012 and graduate in 2016 in a place called ITENAS Bandung ... Ahhhh ... I don't know what to say!! Ok, ok, I manage ... So, I am already graduating, and become temporary jobless, I do blogging for my "spare time" (well, I haven't found somewhere to work, so ...) I love writing, that's why I write.

I used to study here. I got the picture from ITENAS' website though ...
Hmh ... Ok, so the first one is 'why are you choose architecture as your major? You love writing, why not choose something that you love?'

That's what my question in last two terms of my collage's day. Sadly. No, just joking! My mother choose it for me because she sees me really like drawing and counting. Yes, I love arts and mathematics although I'm not good with those two. At first I don't know what architecture is. Seriously, I don't know! All I know about architecture is just about designing building, thats it! And suprisingly I passed the entrance test ...

I amazed myself ...

The second one is 'how about your first term in architecture major?'

Hmm ... I make ... friends ... They helped me a lot. Helping me, the lost girl in architecture major, a lot. That's the very important part, making friends! They'd become your companion when you have to stay up late before deadline.

Oh, something that suprised me is the credit for one course! Yes, it is a studio's course. We should stuck at the same place for two times a week because it contains six credits, and the studio or we called it 'Architectural Designing' class is like escalator. There's one designing class every term, until the seventh semester, so we have seven designing class before the final task. If we, fail one of them, we can't continue to the next one, we must redo it again.

I think i'm not suit at all in this major ... I thought like that before ... but I have friends! You know, support each other~ HA!

There's a lot presentations. Like every major we should do some presentation at least once, and papers. Presentation and paper is like a combo or sometimes it's just paper. Don't be surprised if you want to study in Architecture major.

Third one! 'Are seniors help juniors in the first year?'

No, I think. I don't remember though. Something that I can remember from my first impression of seniors is, they are annoying. I don't know why it's become a hobby to take a revenge to fresh student because theirs seniors did that too to them in my country. I mean the annoying thing. They force us to attend every program they made. Some programs did not doing well so it's just waste of time, I think. But, after that year, they're quite nice, like helping us with courses, discuss with us, etc.

Fourth one and this one is the last... 'What's the difference after you become an architecture student?'

This one ... stay up late for like three or four days a week or even not sleeping at all. Deadline is always there you know. Coffee is your friend, and you will always searching for the strongest coffee ever, but I think water is just enough, I drink just water though ...

If I go somewhere new, I'll always looking for the building design, touching new material, and just starring at something on the roof just to see the structure and kind of understand it. I become so grumpy if I found something that's not right, like, this design should not like this, this is wrong, or this is good but unfortunately this one ... blablabla ... I become so interested in a place with great building design and then discuss it with my friends. Sad over old building being demolished. Just like that in general. It's me like that, I don't know the other, but it's me.

For my inner skill is I gain more confident talking in front of many people. Just, you know, architecture is full of presentation. At first I freaking hate it when it comes to presentation, then I become so okay with presentation. Like, more presentation I do, more effort I put in it, the subject, layout, and the way I presented it. And the way I'm thinking is changing too. Architecture has so much aspect that we have to think, not just design, but structure, utility, cost, etc, so, I think more globally than before and affect my way of thinking outside architecture, I way more humble to make a desicion.

In my opinion ...

This is clearly my opinion as a former Architecture student. It's like I'm answering some question, but actually nobody is really asking ... hahaha ... this is so sad ...

I am posting this, is because I will make an architecture post more often and I write it like the way I write my other post so, wish me luck with this catagory. Thanks for reading ...

Bye ...

PS : My fellow architecture friends, if you want to say something, please, I will edit that later ...
