Healing Garden Santosa Hospital Bandung Center

Thursday, January 12, 2017

Hi ...

If you read the title, you would know it, it's about architecture! My first post really about architecture! Well, not really though ... I just want to show you my experience in healing garden (?). Nah, this is so randoooooommm ... I'm sorry ...

My sister was hospitalized for three days in hospital and Chris or Ryan told me before, in Santosa Hospital you can see roof garden or you can go to roof garden, because the bushes and the trees are visible from outside, but I think, "ahh ... maybe those are just planted in a pot or something, like in BTC (Bandung Trade Center) or Baltos."

Well, I'm wrong, sorry.

I'm still curious about it but I don't have a chance before (of course, who would go into a hospital out of blue just to see roof garden? Huh, no one? I do though, but I'd be so embarassed) to experiencing myself in a roof garden. SO! This is my CHANCE!

(I don't know how my feeling is about my sister being hospitalized or going to a roof garden ... *horrible sister*)

Santosa Hospital's website says that the healing garden are in 4th floor and 9th floor. But, I just got to see the one that at the 9th floor. How to get there is using lift or elevator. Santosa Hospital has four lifts but just two of those that actually can reach the 9th floor, lift for patient only and ... for staff only ... so how to really get there is going up to 8th floor and then go up using stairs (?) (my English is a mess) you'll see this place, this huge lobby.

This is the lobby, the door over there is the door to helipad. (Urgent and you filthy rich? Just fly a helicopter to get here)
Aaaaaand this carving (?) and a plug! Yes, a plug!

Oh, yeah, I went here with my mother when we change shift to take care of my sister. You know, my mother is a huge fan of plants. So, when we got here, 9th floor, my mother said "this is so huge and empty, you can do yoga class here." (well, kind of, not exactly what she said though ...)

BUT! You should check this out. This place is amazing. The grass are planted nicely, so many bushes and flowers variations, even with trees! Just like general garden but on top of building.

So many variation of plants here
Paving blocks are placed nicely, too
Glass wall as wind barrier and savety reason
And there's gazeboo too in here shaped like a temple
The view from 9th floor healing garden
My opinion about this place is great, because you see, it's calming. People is just not usually come around in here, so this place is basically quiet. I think, the main reason they put a roof garden on top of their building, maybe because in their land itself there's no space left to make a landed garden. As you know, hospital needs big space, especially this hospital has international standard. But, all they have is a cramped land in the middle of developing city and the Goverment regulation said that every land must have a couple percent for greenery, so in the end they built a roof garden.

But, this is the best action ever. Global warming has been an issue, ah not an issue, a hot topic for a couple of years now. One of the action to slow down global warming in a building is to make a green building. This hospital maybe not green enough and the garden is not big, but this little action is a smart move, you know. Go green guys, go green! I'm trying too!

HA!

This is a weird post ... again ... damn ... I thought I am getting better in making posts, but well, whatever ...

If you wondering this place is open from 9.00am to 5.00pm everyday. But, please don't come here with a bunch of people. This is a hospital, you remember? Those patients need a rest, doctors, nurses, and all the workers is there to work, too, so don't make them mad. If you really want to come here, come alone or with one friend so it's just the two of you. You know what I mean ...

So, this is the end of the post, thanks for reading this post and this blog, see you next post~

Bye ...

PS : Hey, future architects, plan and build a green building! Save this earth together, alright!
